What didn’t change? The near magical balance of size, performance, and handling. Oh, and an affordable price, too. So go ahead, live a little. Don’t be afraid—the CBR500R’s not too hot, but we guarantee it’ll get your interest the minute you twist the throttle. The CBR500R boasts a ton of upgrades this year, like more midrange power, better acceleration, new fuel injectors, a new supersport styled dual-outlet muffler, refined transmission internals, a new rear shock, a slipper/assist clutch and more.

Revised this year to feature more power and torque in the midrange, the CBR500R’s 471cc, liquid-cooled engine features parallel cylinders with dual overhead cams. Light, narrow, and powerful, it just strikes the perfect balance of what a mid-size sportbike engine should be. The CBR500R’s riding position is right in the sweet spot without being too aggressive. Not too forward or too laid back, it’s great for commuting or carving up a canyon. New clip-on handlebars refine that position even more this year.

The CBR500R is equipped with a diamond-shaped steel tube frame, which boasts all the rigidity necessary to ensure a reassuring feeling of control, even at maximum lean angles. The engine, now mounted close to the swingarm pivot, offers greater agility and manoeuvrability. Finally, the saddle, not far from the ground, makes the CBR500R always easy to ride.

Adjustable suspension

The new CBR500R is equipped with adjustable suspension in the spring preload, for an always effective driving. The 41 mm telescopic fork offers a smooth and controlled ride. Rear suspension features Pro-Link linkage and a rigid aluminium boxed swingarm. With these features you can easily drive on the road and on the track.

Ultralight rims
The lightweight 17-inch die-cast aluminium wheels feature a sporty design with split spokes and high-performance 120/70-ZR17 tyres at the front and 160/60-ZR17 tyres at the rear.

Braking control in all weather conditions
At the front, it features a 320 mm petal-profile disc brake and a powerful two-piston caliper. At the rear, it features a 240 mm single-piston disc brake. And with 2-channel ABS, the road is always your friend.

Gritty twin-cylinder
The engine of the new CBR500R is a gritty liquid-cooled 8-valve parallel-twin. It delivers a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm and 48 hp (35 kW) at 8,600 rpm, exactly the maximum power allowed for A2 licence holders, a choice made specifically to deliver performance within reach even of less experienced motorcyclists. Small adjustments to the distribution, with revised valve lift camshafts, give more torque to the mid-low revs for greater acceleration.

Aggressive sound

A redesigned airbox optimises the operation of the PGM-FI electronic injection, while the new silencer with double outlet emphasises the qualities of acceleration and recovery. But not only that, the new exhaust has also been designed to emit an exciting sound, which amplifies the emotions given by the generous twin-cylinder engine on any route, even on the track.

Full-Led Lights

Full-LED headlamps, including direction indicators, confirm and enhance the premium look of a high-end Super Sport. The bike is equipped with Full-LED light clusters, including direction indicators, which optimize fuel consumption and require less current consumption, i.e. power from the engine.

Emergency brake flashing

The new CBR500R’s emergency flashing system helps to ensure safety in the event of sudden braking. The system detects sudden braking and automatically activates the front and rear emergency lights, which flash to warn neighbouring vehicles. Extra safety in all environmental conditions.
